DESTINATION WEDDING IN ABRUZZO ROCCA CALASCIO

Augusta and Christopher live in Brooklyn, one of the five boroughs of New York.

For their destination wedding in Abruzzo they chose the beautiful scenery of Santo Stefano di Sessanio and the famous castle of Rocca Calascio, one of Italy’s hidden treasures.

Rocca Calascio is a fortress in the Province of L’Aquila in Abruzzo, Italy, and is the highest castle of the Apennines. It was built of stone and masonry for military purposes starting in the tenth century. It lies within the Gran Sasso e Monti della Laga National Park and alongside the high plain of Campo Imperatore.

Near the fortress, slightly lower, there is the octagonal church of Santa Maria della Pietà, built in the seventeenth century.

Rocca Calascio was the location for several movies like  Ladyhawke,  The Name of the Rose and The American .

It was not so simple for Augusta and Christopher to reach the castle, in addition to the difficult and rough path the spouses also wore their wedding dresses.

So much effort has been rewarded by the vision of a unique landscape and a dreamlike atmosphere. The view from 1,460 metres above sea level was stunning!

As requested by the spouses, I am allowed to publish only the photographs relating to the couple’s photo shoot.
